Abbott Furnace Company, a leader in industrial furnaces, located in St. Marys, PA is looking for an experienced Electrical Service Technician to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing and programming debugging of our electrical equipment. You will interpret schematics, test and prove out equipment for proper operation, perform temperature uniformity surveys and temperature calibrations, panel building, assist in assembly, installation, and training with the end customer. We use automation for some of our industrial processes, so you should feel comfortable interpreting PLC ladder logic programs. Other tasks in this role include performing preventative maintenance inspections and PFC tests.


Candidates should be fluent in all aspects of industrial electricity including various PLCs, frequency drives, motor control, AC and DC control wiring, transformer theory and operation, and various control instrumentation and automation. Knowledge of natural gas burner management and temperature control/thermal process is a plus. 


  • Measure, cut, and install wiring and conduit systems
  • Install and program electrical equipment
  • Follow electrical blueprints and schematics
  • Troubleshoot or replace electrical components as needed
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections
  • Interpret PLC ladder logic programs
  • Follow local, state, and national electric codes
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace


  • 2-year associate degree/trade school
  • 3 years of practical experience in an industrial plant setting.
  • Experience using hand tools
  • Mechanical skills
  • Physical ability
  • This position will also require some travel.
