2024 AMUG Conference recap

Abbott Furnace Company exhibited at the 2024 AMUG Conference held at the Hilton Chicago, March 10-14. The Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) is an all-encompassing technology users group dedicated to the advancement of additive manufacturing technology with a motto “For Users – By Users.”

Additive Manufacturing

The AMUGexpo provided a social environment to discuss the latest technology and demonstrate new products to nearly 1,500 attendees along with more than 150 technical presentations. Abbott showcased new technologies in Continuous High-Volume De-Binding and Sintering Furnaces. A 3-D printed model was on display at the booth of a high-temperature pusher furnace, which was to scale at 12” = 1”.

Sintering Furnace

This furnace system was developed to provide lower maintenance cost, improved product quality, and lower capital cost as compared to a 4.5 ft3 vacuum furnace, dismissing the myth that the advantages of continuous De-Bind and Sintering are not available to the Sinter-Based Additive Manufacturing (S-BAM) market because the furnaces are too large. This furnace provides a lower cost of operation at a comparable capacity of production when compared to a 4.5 ft3 vacuum furnace.

Not only did Abbott exhibit at this conference, Dr. Stephen Feldbauer, Director of Research and Development at Abbott Furnace, was a panelist in the very well attended AM Metal Technologies track discussing “A Review of Current Thermal Process Technologies and Their Applications.”

For more information about this revolutionary technology and how you can take advantage of lower cost and higher quality continuous De-Bind and Sintering of S-BAM materials, contact Abbott Furnace at (814) 781-6355 or email [email protected].
