Celebrating Excellence: The 2024 Abbott Brazing Symposium Recap

The 2024 Abbott Annual Brazing Symposium, taking place May 7-9 in Nashville, brought together some of the world’s foremost experts in the field of brazing furnaces, filler metals, part cleaning, atmosphere gasses and flow controls. Engineers, maintenance personnel, and industry professionals convened in The Music City to explore the latest advancements, share insights, and learn all about the art of joining materials through brazing.

Over two and a half days, participants immersed themselves in a variety of topics.
Brazing Fundamentals: From understanding metallurgy to mastering heat cycles, attendees delved into the core principles of brazing.
Filler Metals: Discussions centered around selecting the right filler metals for specific applications, ensuring strong and durable joints.
Joint Design: Engineers explored innovative joint designs that optimize strength, reliability, and efficiency.
Troubleshooting: Real-world challenges were dissected, and solutions were shared. Whether it was addressing cleanliness-related issues or minimizing scrap, the symposium provided practical insights.
AIAG CQI-29: Abbott’s head of Research and Development, Steve Feldbauer, Ph.D., presented on the new AIAG CQI-29 – Brazing Special Process Assessment. This comprehensive standard ensures quality and consistency in brazing processes.

Beyond the technical sessions, attendees relished the opportunity to connect with peers, forge new relationships, and exchange ideas. The symposium fostered a sense of camaraderie—a shared passion for advancing an understanding brazing technology.

As the symposium concluded, participants left with fresh perspectives, renewed enthusiasm, and a deeper understanding for the art and science of brazing. The 2024 Abbott Brazing Symposium was more than an event; it was a testament to the collaborative spirit of the industry. We look forward to seeing you at the next one.
