Purchasing agent
Abbott Furnace Company, a leading manufacturer in industrial furnaces, located in St. Marys, PA, is currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable multitasking and good at prioritizing under minimum supervision.
The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for purchasing goods, materials, supplies, and services. This individual will be accountable for entering data into purchasing software and systems, as well as maintaining up-to-date supplier and vendor information. This will include, tracking of purchase orders and the status of orders and deliveries.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Confer with vendors to obtain information on materials, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Enter and issue purchase orders to vendors.
- Understand and identify long lead items and initiate material sourcing to meet build schedules.
- Monitoring inventory levels, analyzing demand patterns and implementing inventory management strategies to manage stock levels and avoid shortages or excesses.
- Monitor late deliveries and communicate those to the appropriate departments.
- Implement procurement systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Assist with problem solving and managing issues with incorrect invoicing, material quality, and shipping schedules.
SKILLS:
- Must be detail oriented and have critical thinking ability.
- Verbal and written accuracy is essential pertaining to specifications, part numbers, prices, quantities, etc.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in purchasing.
- Positive, professional attitude and customer service background.
- Must be organized and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Industrial Manufacturing buying experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with SAGE 100 is a huge plus.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum high school diploma.
- 2-3 years purchasing related experience.
