technical sales engineer
This position is ideal for someone seeking more than a traditional desk role. We’re looking for an individual who takes pride in hands-on work, problem-solving, and guiding projects from the initial discussion through final order. If you enjoy understanding how equipment operates and want to be involved in engineered-to-order solutions, this role offers end-to-end involvement from concept through delivery.
Responsibilities
- Manage customer projects from initial inquiry through order placement
- Communicate directly with engineers, plant managers, and technical decision-makers
- Review customer specifications and work with our engineering team to design solutions
- Develop cost estimates and sales proposals for custom thermal-processing equipment
- Remain active during the build process by supporting customers, engineering, and manufacturing
- Establish trusted, long-term relationships with customers across multiple projects
- Assist with after-sale support, system upgrades, and future project opportunities
- Participate in trade shows and technical events as a representative of Abbott Furnace Company
- Document, monitor, and follow up on opportunities using the company CRM system
Requirements
- An engineering degree or equivalent technical experience
- A background in heat treating, sintering, brazing, or similar thermal processes
- The ability to read technical drawings and interpret process requirements
- A background in machine assembly, fabrication, piping, or pneumatics is a strong advantage
- Experience in technical or industrial sales, capital equipment, or engineered-to-order products is a bonus, not a requirement
