Abbott Furnace Company exhibited and presented at the PowderMet2023 Annual Conference held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, June 19-21, 2023. PowderMet is the premier event of the Americas on powder metallurgy and metal additive manufacturing. This event has a strong focus on the technical papers and presentations that are given throughout the schedule.
As part of those technical presentations, our own Nanna Bush, Mechanical Engineering Manager and recent Pennsylvania State University graduate, presented on the “Effect of Particle Size Distribution on the Physical Properties of Binder Jetted 17-4PH Stainless Steel as a Function of Print Axis”.
Dr. Steve Feldbauer, Ph.D., Director of Research and Development, also presented two new papers; “Furnace advancements for the removal of lubricant, curing of soft magnetics, and the continuous sintering binder jetted materials” and “Optimization of the de-bind and sintering cycles in binder jet printed 17-4 components”.
Although the traditional Powder Metallurgy “press and sinter” market may have some challenges with the move to EV’s with regards to the diminishing amount of powdered metal in each vehicle, there are some very interesting developments being made in additive manufacturing and other areas. For example, Soft Magnetic Composites (SMC’s) that will lead the industry into some new and exciting directions. Abbott Furnace is looking forward to being a part of these new developments.
Also, during the conference, Dustin Yetzer, Technical Sales Manager, accepted the 2022 PMEA Safety Award behalf of Abbott Furnace Company for achieving one year without a lost time accident for 2022. CONGRATULATIONS to the Abbott Furnace team for this accomplishment!
